BT profits climb on brisk broadband sales
BT reported second quarter sales of £4.89bn, a 2 percent drop, while pre-tax profits rose 15 percent to £570m for the period ended 31 September. Earnings per share rose from 5.1 pence to 5.6 pence and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation were up 3 percent at BT, with the company reporting £1.49bn for the quarter.

Skype gives free WiFi to the whole UK next week
Yesterday we gave you 5 reasons to attend Internet Week Europe in London this year, and now it seems Skype wants the whole of the UK to get involved, as it’s giving the UK free WiFi for the whole of next week to mark the event. Similar to last year, as we reported at the time, Skype’s sponsorship of Internet Week Europe 2011 will see it giving everyone in the UK free access to wireless hotspots with Skype WiFi.
