David Murphy has launched an all-new Mobile Marketing magazine website. All the content from the past five years is on the new site, and it’s all easily searchable. The site will continue to invite execs from the industry to share their thoughts with users through Guest Columns and interviews.

The explosion of social networking, online video services and digital photography, plus the continued popularity of mobile phones, email and web browsing, coupled with the growing desire of corporations and governments to know and store ever more data about everyone has created an unprecedented amount of digital information and introduced a new word to the nerd lexicon: a zettabyte.

Apple sells a million iPads in first month
Apple, which launched its hand-held tablet computer on April 3, announced yesterday that it has sold more than 1m iPads. The one millionth sale was on Friday. So far the early owners have downloaded more than 12m applications from Apple's app store and 1.5m electronic books from its new iBookstore. Steve Jobs, co-founder and chief executive of Apple, said the pace of sales more than twice as fast as the 74 days it took to achieve this milestone with the iPhone.

China's online population passes 400 million
The number of Internet users in China, already the largest in the world, has surpassed 400 million and accounts for almost a third of the country's population, state media reported Saturday. The online population in the world's most populous nation has reached 404 million, the official Xinhua news agency said, citing the State Council Information Office.

Bungie sign ten-year deal with Activision
Number one developer Bungie teams up with number one publisher Activision in superstar gaming tag team. Bungie, the creators of the multi-million selling Halo video game franchise on Xbox and Xbox 360, signed a ten year deal with Activision, the third party publishers who publish the Call of Duty series, the most recent of which, Modern Warfare 2, broke records for best-selling video game of all time.

48% of Parents Friend Their Kids on Facebook
When consumer electronics shopping site Retrevo prepared for Mother’s Day by conducting a survey of parents’ social media practices, it found that nearly half (48%) of parents add their children as friends on Facebook. Parents admitted that “it can be awkward at times” when they follow their kids’ Facebook updates, but think that it’s probably worth it to keep tabs on them.

Two Spanish hackers apply for security jobs
The Security outfit which spent most of last year helping Spanish coppers nick three men suspected of operating and renting access to a massive and global network of hacked computers had two surprise job applications. About 60 days after their arrest,  Panda Security had a visit from two of the hackers asking to be hired as security researchers.

Internet Explorer market share falls below 60%
Microsoft's share of the browser market continued to erode last month, according to a recent traffic report. The April report from traffic analysis firm Net Applications found that over the month Microsoft's share of the browser market fell from 60.65 per cent to 59.95 per cent. The drop is part of an ongoing decline in market share for the Microsoft browser. In June of 2009, Internet Explorer logged a market share of 68.32 and has seen its share drop every month since.

Opera buys email provider FastMail.FM
Rolf Assev, Opera's strategy chief, said the acquisition would give the company better knowledge of Web-based email systems, and enable expanding its current email offering. "Because many people will first experience the Web on a mobile device, it makes sense to extend our messaging capabilities to all devices," Assev told Reuters. Opera's browser is highly successful on mobile. It's iPhone offering is currently number two on the app store.

Election App Seeks the People's Vote
Mobile application developer Appy Go Lucky has released its UK Election Tracker app for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. The app suggests questions for users to vote on, such as: ‘Do you agree with David Cameron’s plans to create neighbourhood armies?’ Or ‘Would a Prime Minister’s faith affect the way you vote?’ Users then cast their vote, which is added to the poll.
