Every Chinese PC at risk of hacking
Controversial software that screens out "offensive material" from the internet, better known as "Green Dam", has been shown to have security flaws that could lead to the computer being taken over by malicious hackers. The government has mandated that the software be installed on every computer in the country, a move described by Chinese computer experts as a "large-scale disaster".

The largest mobile operator in Sri Lanka today launched a Disaster and Emergency Warning Network to everyone on its network. Dialog GSMs warning system lets the Sri-Lankan government issue alerts and warnings to all of the operators subscribers, targeted by location.

Palm has announced that it's getting a new chairman and CEO. Ed Colligan is being replaced - after 16 years at the helm - by Palm's "executive chairman" Jon Rubenstein, from 12 June. An ex-Apple exec, Rubenstein joined the smartphone maker full time in October 2007, in Palm's words, "to help bring innovation back to the company".
