Nokia launches E55 - world's slimmest smartphone
Nokia is adding to their line of Enterprise smartphones this week at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona with the E55 SureType QWERTY handset apparently the world's most compact smartphone. Looking like an updated E71, the E55 is the smallest Nokia email device, boasting the usual email, calendar and contacts syncable through Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes.

Nokia to open stores
Hoping to follow the runaway success of Apple's App Store, Nokia has unveiled its new online software and media store. The focus of the cellphone market has been shifting to software development since Google and Apple entered the mobile market in the past two years. Nokia said it would open the online 'Ovi' store in nine countries in May. 70% of revenues from the store will go to software developers, and the first model with access to the store will be the new flagship phone N97.

Sony to Embed Qualcomm's Gobi Platform in Laptop Computers
Sony has selected Qualcomm's Gobbi mobile Internet technology for use in its VAIO notebook PC range. Sony is the first notebook manufacturer to utilise the Gobi technology in several of its PC models and expect Gobi 3G connectivity to be a sought-after feature and significant enhancement.

Vodafone launches three new handset ranges
Vodafone is preparing to launch its first GPS own-branded handsets this spring. Devices in the range include the Vodafone 835, 735 and 736. Features will include Vodafone Music, Google Maps, Vodafone Messenger and FM radio amongst others.
