Nokia stops supporting WiMax - for now
Nokia has stopped making the only device in its line-up that supports the WiMax networking standard. The device - the N810 WiMax Edition - was launched to co-incide with US operator Sprint's roll-out of its WiMax service. However, with this being delayed, it meant that there was no market for the Nokia device. Nokia commentated that as the N810 was launched in April 2008, it has now reached the end of its lifespan.

UK email law ‘attack on rights’
Critics including human rights group Liberty claim that impending rules to force Internet companies to keep details of every email sent in the UK are a waste of money and an attack on civil liberties. From March 09 all ISPs will by law be required to keep information about every email sent or received in the UK for a year.

BT to provide ‘free’ O870 and 0845 numbers
In a move to steal a march on its competitors, BT will become the first UK telephone company to offer free 0870 and 0845 calls to customers. BT made the announcement following a huge deluge of complaints from customers unhappy at having to pay extra to call these premium numbers, which are often used by banks and doctors surgeries.
